: Read their ads and reviews carefully and you'll see that they generally refer to lawyerly intangibles like "felt" recoil, or sometimes "apparent" recoil. But the Mag-Na-Port guys have made a lot of money with empirical results, and they do have test results showing recoil reduction of 50% and sometimes more. : : : thinking in the face of controlled experiment. With the B&L 6-24, it's also a purty good bug buster. It has had about 2500 shots through it, and shooting from a bench, I'm consistently getting one holers at 25 yds. My new TX is really starting to break in. He also gave me a ton of advice on how to go about the whole thing. Paul Watts kindly sent me a little piece of his 7/8" brass, otherwise I would've had to buy a 3ft long piece from a metal shop. The only thing I still have to do is machine two brass shims out of a 7/8" brass round, and I'll be up and running again. Just counterbored the pivot bolt hole in the breech block of my R1 the other day, and it turned out pretty smooth. I kinda see the Beeman R1 as the "Mauser 98 of spring piston airguns." I got to keep this in mind when I want to build my own airgun from scratch one day. I didn't know Beeman sells complete receivers and end caps! I though these parts were one of the few things that you could not order from them, but I guess not. Can't wait 'till May when we get to hunt together and compare our R1's side by side. As you know, I've got a down-tuned Venomac Lazaglide kit right now, but I'm always on the prowl for something better. : It's a delight not to need a spring compressor to take apart and reassemble my R1-Watts (Maccari mainspring is responsible). likely will.being a man after my own heart-a dedicated steel spring enthusiasts (an closet gas spring admirer as I am). I'll do about 500 pells and give you a report if you are interested. I'm only about 100 pells into the new tune/lube and will be curious as to performance differences between it and my old unit which had a Beeman Laserization air transfer port chamfer. Put the R1-Watts together last night with a new R1 receiver/piston tube & end cap unit. Sounds like you are really enjoying your ProElite! Going to get Jim Maccari's new spring kit for it? Or do you have "enough power". : Hey! With my recently acquired Weaver 42mm 4x16 scope, soon I'll be able to "bug bust" too! (2x7 scopes a tad light on magnification to hopper hunt).
